We went to Alicante, Spain for the second time this year as it's a great place to relax, eat good food and enjoy some sun. We booked our hotel through Roomex.com which we absolutely love... best prices! The hotel was clean but the room would have benefited from an update. Staff were friendly in general, some being more friendly than others. The location was great as it's very central (can't get more central). The breakfast was satisfactory although they did have very good pastries. In general a good hotel. Could do with being slightly cleaner. Decor doesn't bother us as much but considering it's a 4 star, we did expect it to be just a little bit better.
This is a really nice hotel, very stylish and with lots of cool design features. I felt like James Bond arriving into it ! It is very handy for the airport bus too (Bus C6 which costs 2.65 one way from Alicante Airport to the city, stops just around the corner from the hotel ). The hotel itself is like a giant cube in grantite. The reception area was large and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I got a room on the 3rd floor and found it very comfortable. There was a free mini-bar (including beer and soft drinks). The bathroom was also very stylishly designed. There was a large LCD TV set with several english language channels. Breakfast was included and featured some cold meats, fresh rolls, plenty of fruit and the tastiest tiny tomatoes I have ever had. The hotel is close to the port / harbour district, and from there you can walk to the main city centre (The esplanade) in about 15 minutes. There are shops and an OpenCor supermarket quite close by. The train station in Alicante is about a 10 minute walk as well. There is construction work going on opposite one side of the hotel, so the view may be a bit of a building site at the moment, but there was no noise or disruption from it. There is a pool on the roof of the hotel, but I didn't have a chance to use it. The hotel seems to be used a lot by business people and was nice and quiet at night. Check in and check out were all done very quickly and I was able to leave my bag at the hotel while I went out on the last day and collected it then later that afternoon. The bus stop for the bus back to the airport is also just around the corner so is very handy. I would definetly recommeend this hotel and would choose it again for my next trip to Alicante.
Pro's : Reasonably helpful staff who spoke some english, Adequate rooms. Con's : The hotel lacks any real personality, after an attempted robbery the hotel offered nothing only strange looks which I found to be completely inhospitable Overall I wouldn't stay here again, awkward location and you get absolutely nothing more than what you pay for.
