Atlantic Coast Hotel Westport
Hotel Description
The rooms are all large in size and in good condition, as are the bathrooms. They vary in shape and design due to the building structure but are of high standard with all the facilities you would expect of a good quality hotel. Located on the 4th floor of the hotel, under the shadow of Croagh Patrick is the Blue Wave Restaurant, which holds an AA Rosette for food & service and three RAC dining awards. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and inspires total relaxation.
The Blue Wave, is one of the finest restaurants in Westport. Given the hotel's location on the shores of Clew Bay, the Head Chef Frank Walsh, chooses only the finest local fresh fish, meat & fresh produce for each evening's menu.
Each morning enjoy breakfast in the restaurant which has been nominated by Georgina Campbell's Guide for the best hotel breakfast in Ireland. The Atlantic Coast is a large converted warehouse with a stone exterior, blending in perfectly with the surrounding area. The lobby is medium in size with a terra-cotta floor and comfy seats. You definitely get the feeling you are in a coastal hotel as the decor fits this theme. A great holiday hotel in a perfect tranquil location. (10/08rt)

I enjoyed my stay at the Atlantic carlton overall, my only negative feedback was the room that had been allocated to us had obviously been used as a smoking room in the past, and still smelt of stale cigarette smoke, although we kept the windows open all the time, the smell hit us every time we walked in.
Apart from that the hotel was nicely decorated the staff were very friendly .

My husband & I stayed in the hotel the last weekend in May 2010.
We arrived late, having attended a concert in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, so we only checked in around 11 ish. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful man at reception who offered to arrange for us a selection of sandwiches if we were hungry!
The room was lovely, very spacious and comfortable.
The breakfast was another lovely surprise. Along with the cereal, fruit and fry, we also had the option of a selection of alternatives fresh from the kitchen ie. kippers, bagel and cream.
Later, after breakfast we had a swim in the pool which we noted was a much larger pool compared to other hotel swimming pools.
Overall, we definitely enjoyed our stay here, and it ticked all the boxes for us. We cannot wait to return.
We will definitely be recommending this hotel to our family and friends for the future.

I stayed at this hotel for one night. I found the reception a little unprofessional as i had to ring several times to confirm the e mail address and i thought this was a pretty basic thing that should be avaliable without delay. The room was fine, although we were given a family room for some reason and i found a little annoying but room was fine.
we went to bistro for dinner, which again was fine but very over priced and wine menu was riduculously priced, for standard bottles of wine.
The cleaners entered the room in the morning regarldess of sign on the door.
It is fine hotel and room was satisfactory but it should certainly not be regarded as a four star hotel as this is very misleading to the general public.
A three star rating would be much more sufficent.
I stayed there for one night but i would not be making a repeat visit to this hotel.

I did not think this hotel was 4* quality, and i am very glad that i only paid the rate quoted on this website as really the hotels normal rates are very expensive for the type of hotel it is.
The staff in the hotel bar were not very friendly, there was a situation where one of my friends dropped a drink on himself and on the floor when bringing the drinks to the table, he then apologised for making the mess and the bar man asked for more money to replace the drink? hense we did not return to the bar after that. The leisure centre was not up to the 4* standard, the pool was like been in a barn, very unlike the Carlton that i have experienced in Ballinasloe. The room was average but the room my friends were staying in had a terrible smell of smoke in the room and especially on the towls which we did report to receiption who said they would change the towls which they did not.
On the good side, I could not fault the restaurant what so ever if was lovely and the staff there were very nice. The Spa was lovely but was expensive.
Overall i really would not go back to this hotel as feel that it is very expensive for what you get.
