We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Times Square is literally around the corner.
You couldn't fault the room in any way, being clean and tidy with the usual comforts. Staff very friendly, all in all, a very relaxing and enjoyable stay !

The key thing about this hotel is the location - it's absolutely perfect and practically right on Times Square itself with the ticket box to get cheap tkts just a couple of steps walk away. It's just a quick 10min 12 block walk Downtown to Macy's and another 10min 12 block walk Uptown to Central Park - you will not find a more ideally situated spot. In general the staff we encountered there were a little dour, such as the check-in manager lady who looked absolutely miserable to be there. However, the doorman was very friendly as were the cleaning ladies we encountered - so a bit of both, which you get everywhere I'm sure. The twin-bedded room was of course small - no surprise there - as was the bathroom but it served it's purpose - we only returned there to sleep really. There was a closet area in the room to hang up clothes & store cases/shopping etc but we were hesitant to use it as it smelled a bit musty. The room was really warm and we left the windows open all day to cool it down. There was air-con there in the form of a heater-type construction on the lower part of the wall by the window which could be set to heat (which you would never need to do given the heat already in the room) or cool but it was quite noisy so I personally wouldnt use it at night as it would keep me awake. All in all, would definately stay there again, got a great rate on Roomex & loved the location - but would not be able to stay there in summer due to the heat.

Stayed for four nights in The Edison, Great location, right in Times Square, Hotel room was very small, we were in the smallest room in the hotel room 353, friends that travelled with us had a much bigger room than us, The hotel is clean, it was cleaned every day. Staff are friendly and helful.
TV didnt work in room (but didnt go to New York to watch TV so didnt really bother with it)
The tap in the bathroom didnt work (but needed water to wash) when told staff about the taps they were fixed straight away.
We would stay in The Edison again because of the location, you could not get any better location than this hotel.
If staying in The Edison visit The Glass House Tavern for something to eat or drink and just to rest feet after all the shopping, its on the same block as hotel really lovely bar

I have just returned from New York staying at the Edison Hotel 47th street.
I had stayed there a number of years before and found it very satisfactory, thus I booked again this time.
Unfortunately I found the hotel had changed. I found the staff abrupt, and unhelpful.(reception) We felt that due to the position of the hotel in 47th west they had a captive audience and didnt have to bother. It was disappointing, as i had recommended it to the friends i was with.
The room was clean, but very noisy. I will definately not be returning .
