Eurostars Grand Place Hotel Brussels

A very nice hotel in a great location. A short walk from the Grand Place. The room was very clean and a good size but very warm. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Normally the Eurostars in excellent but on this occasion the stay was spoiled by virtue of the fact that the air conditioning wasnt working. Guests were not informed of this at registration. I was given a fan when I reported the problem but it was no use. I would have expected some recognition of the problem - just a quick apology for the inconvenience at checkout.

A surly manager on check-in and an uninspiring facade didn't bode well for our stay. However, a small but comfortable room and a nice breakfast in the morning just about salvaged the trip. The hotel is more suitable for the business traveller and with no bar offers little for the regular tourist. Would not stay again.

The hotel is very centrally located and is less than 10 minutes walk away from Grand Place, the historical centre of Brussels. The area was safe at night and only a couple of minutes walk away from La Bourse metro station. Unfortunately, for three of the four nights we stayed in the hotel - one or two homeless people decided to shelter in the doorway of a nearby bank, which was slightly unsettling. The hotel itself was good. Our room looked out on central atrium rather than having an external view. The downside of this was it was difficult to tell what the weather was like outside but at least there was no traffic noise! Breakfast in the hotel was excellent - with a good choice of breads, fruit, cereal etc. The room itself was fine. There was only one English language TV station (BCC London - not very exciting) and we had two single beds instead of a double bed. I would recommend the hotel for its good location and good breakfast.
