Stayed at Flandrischer Hof, Cologne, for five nights (May 2008) Hotel is very clean, room well serviced each day - bedding was changed at least once during this time. Soft big square pillows were our only problem - but extra ones were left in room when we asked. We were three to our room and it was very spacious. Staff were extremely helpful when asked any question and did their very best to find the answers (particularly guy named James) Breakfast buffet had good selection - maybe not to irish standards (probably more healthy than we're used to) but there was always something to keep us going until lunch. Hotel is 10/15mins walk to main shopping area but shops en route are worth a visit. Dom(Cathedral)/train station/River Cruises are also within walking distance but if needed taxis cost about 5-8 euro depending on time of day. Plenty of bars/cafes/restaurants/kiosks etc in the area of this hotel. Bar at rear of hotel (in same building) is worth a visit once (if not every night). Live music most nights and food served also. Overall a nice place to stay and would recommend it to others.
