Lake Tekapo is a quiet little town with little to do except take in the scenery. In saying that the lake is beautiful and the small church makes for wonderful photo opportunities. The roads to and from the town are through mountain passes and don't expect to make time, rather give yourself time to take in the views. The colour of the water in the lake is breathtaking and the view we had from the bedroom window of the Godley showed it off to best effect. There are a number of places to eat and we chose a Chinese Restaurant, a couple of doors from the hotel,which was reasonable if average in terms of decor. Tekapo is a place for one night only as you will see it all in a couple of hours. The Godley is about the best place in town to stay and while far from luxurious it is adquate for a short stay. As I said it is a very quiet place and don't be looking for any nightlife here.
