We stayed four nights at the Grand Canal Hotel in Dublin from 15 June 2008. Our first impression of our queen room was good, until we realised how loud the traffic noise was, even with the window closed. We asked if we could be moved to a quieter room and the reception staff obliged and offered another room at the rear of the hotel. We only spent a couple of minutes in this room, as the vent in the bathroom was emitting a very loud noise. We were a little apprehensive about requesting another room, but decided it was in our best interest to do so. The reception staff did offer another room, reminding us that this was the last one they had to offer us. Thank goodness, third time lucky, we found a quiet queen room at the rear of the hotel. Overall, the hotel was a good 3 star hotel. The staff did not appear to be able to cope with the amount of guests at breakfast time. We would recommend going elsewhere for breakfast, as the food was not satisfactory.
