Asked for an upgrade as we were celebrating a special occasion - we got a beautiful castle view superior room. Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, very good breakfast, no room noise.. We would definitely return!!
The hotel is lovely - clean and modern with friendly staff. The room was spaceous with a massive tv and the wall and many tv stations to choose from! The en suite was quite big with a Bath and shower. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a good selection of food to choose from all very tasty! The hotel is in a great location near to the castle and the Royal mile. Its not too far to Princes Street for shopping!
Excellent Location right beside Waverley Bridge and just off the Royal Mile. Pool is only ten metres but the setting of the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi is lovely and tranquil and relaxing.
The location of the Barcelo Carlton cannot be better. We were a group of 6 over for a Rugby International, travelling from Canada. Rooms: Super, They were spacious, well furnished and very comfortable, the only draw-back was that they were a bit HOT, but nothing opening a window wouldn't or didn't solve. On the first night my wife's and my room were missed for making up, BUT we mentioned it and waiting for us at the end of the day was a complimentary bottle of chilling Champagne and a box of luxury chocolates. Mike , the Concierge, was full of advice, even down to the location of a shoe repair facility. Facilities: we didn't check out the Spa but the totally relaxed appearance of those coming out suggested it was a great experience. The Bar was great, and the breakfast for 6 hungry Rugby Players was perfect. Huge hot and cold Buffet which set us up for the day. When I next go to Edinburgh, I can't believe I would look elsewhere.

I was very impressed and really enjoyed my short stay at this hotel. I couldn't fault the room in any way, being clean and tidy with the usual comforts and I liked the modern decor.
Great central location, near to Train Station and other facilities. Nice clean comfortable room. Will definitely stay here again

We booked this hotel only a few days before we went to Edinburgh and there wasn't much of a choice of hotels at that stage as there were a few things on in Edinburgh that week. I could find no fault whatsoever with any part of the stay and would definitely stay here again or recommend it to anyone else who may be traveling to Edinburgh. It was very central just behind Princes Street. The room was very clean and modern and the bathroom was also very clean. Breakfast was well organised and never any wait.
very clean and tidy room. Staff most helpful and friendly. Wonderful cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights . The hotel is basic , very clean and comfortable. The staff are really helpful and friendly and the hotel is centrally located. This is a very good budget hotel .
Geat location. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was a bit crowded as the hotel was quite full
Good clean rooms at central business hotel.
As tourists the hotel was excellent as it was so central to all the tourist attractions. We found the hotel clean and the staff friendly. We would have no hesitation is recommending the Hotel and to making a return visit. Very enjoyable stay.
I stayed here for a week end recently, it was superb, this has been my second time staying at this hotel, Accomodation top class, food excellent, customer service very hands on and customer orientated. great location central to all. fantastic views of Edinburgh from Restuarant/Bar/room etc.would highly recommend it as no 1 hotel to stay in while visiting Edinburgh, have been in other hotels about but this one stood out Just magnificent!!!!
The best thing about this hotel was its location, located right on top of Prince street in the middle of all of the shops, a few minutes walk from the various sites, restaurants and pubs. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated but quite small, probably the smallest hotel room i've seen. Although modern and nicely decorated it had quite an eyesore in the centre of the room...... a very large trouser press. Unfortunately the restaurant was the biggest let down as it was very expensive. £57 for a 3 course meal and one drink each. This would have been fine if it was freshly cooked however all three courses were pre-prepared as they were providing a carvery style dinner that night. However despite this if you are looking for a hotel room right in the centre of Edinburgh rather then a hotel room for luxury the Mount royal hotel (Newly renamed Mercure hotel) is perfect, located 2minutes walk from the airlink bus stop.
