I really enjoyed the bar where the local men had the banter and promoted everything good about the Irish personality, which the tourists were eager to soak up. It would be handy if breakfast started a little earlier.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Had a really nice stay.
attended a wedding and had great weekend, food was good and staff friendly. will be back
Stayed at the Ardilaun first week of May 2012 to attend a wedding. Hotel management certainly have their act together in how to provide for a large wedding. All staff, and especially management, were very attentive and you felt that you could relax and leave matters in their hands. This was very helpful in that you were free to mingle with your guests. Banqueting room was beautifully set up and managed. All-in-all a very pleasant experience.
WE went to the Carlton Hotel in Galway for a family gathering, everyone booked separately some with the hotel and some with Supervalu breaks. I booked with Roomex and got an excellant rate and when I needed to upgrade one of the rooms to a twin it was no problem and the staff were excellant to deal with. The hotel itself was very busy, yet reception welcomed us in a manner that was inviting and very personal. Our room was spotless, very spacious and the bed was dressed in good linen and we had a great sleep. The rugby match was on in the bar and the atmosphere was super, bar staff dealt with the large volume of people in a friendly and efficent manner. We ate in the restaurant and one of our waitresses was very short tempered and rude to all at our table, I mentioned this on checkout and it was dealt with in a very appropiate way. I left the hotel having had a great family gathering and the feeling that The Carlton Hotel is very guest friendly and interested in feedback and willing to address dicrepencies. I would recommend this hotel and am happy to return and recommend it to others.
I was on 4th floor. Water pressure in shower was abysmal, not good enough. Also TV remote needed new batteries. Shouldn't have to complain about these things, basic requirements for a hotel of any star rating. Was also asked for a security deposit on entry as we were part of a stag party. I thought the approach made on this was awkward in front of friends and made me feel uncomfortable asking lads to cough up as we hadn't been pre-informed of this. I wouldn't stay here again. End of story.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Salthill hotel. Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable bedrooms. Will definately be back!
Very friendly staff
I was disappointed with the food but the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a nice local atmosphere in the bar. The rooms were comfortable enough.
excellent hotel was very impressed. was on stag weekend and it was all i could ask, friendly staff very helpfull. hotel was very clean and that bar a treat to drink in!!
Good hotel, with friendly and efficient check in staff. Mainly self-service breakfast apart from tea & coffee but service here a little slow. Room quality clean and good temperature (unusually with windows that open!) although some of the bed linen looking a little worn. Overall a perfectly good experience and would recommend this as a basic level hotel, very convenient to city centre at 5 minutes walking distance.
Did the job for brief stopover. Some fittings showing a little wear and tear, but otherwise good with great service from friendly staff.
Excellent hotel from the minute you check in until you depart. Staff are excellent and couldnt fault a thing. Made full use of spa in the hotel which is highly recommended. This hotel is defintely one were you can chill out and come home from a weekend break feeling refreshed and relaxed. Breakfast in hotel is worth having and such a huge selection every morning. Only back from recent stay and planning another trip already.
The G Hotel is superb. Free underground parking is the first thing we experienced. Directions to the parking could be better. The reception area is very impressive. Check in appeared to go ok. We had booked a Deluxe room, but were put in a lower grade room. After a while in the room we figured is was nice but nothing extraordinary. We asked reception to check and eventually they told us they had made a mistake. We were then taken to the correct room. The deluxe room was very nice and definitely worth that little bit extra expense. We ate dinner in the Huntsman Inn nearby and this was ok - not great. We later compared it with the G menu and if we were going again we'd choose the G barfood option. We had a drink later in the evening in the G bar and it was very nice. Chairs were a bit weird - but that's part of the attraction of the G - it's not typical. Breakfast in the morning was top class - loads of options. I noted a guest who arrived after us was asked if they'd like a window seat, while we weren't asked and were put in the corner well away from the window! Generally speaking, the staff weren't locals - mostly foreigners - but were well trained, capable, frienly etc. Overall - a very good experience, would recommend it and would go there again.
I stayed here the night before St. Partricks Day and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This is my third time staying in the hotel. The staff were brilliant and could not do enough. We also got upgraded to a suite. The room was amazing, very spacious and wonderfully decorated. Will certainly be back and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Galway City centre.
Had a very enjoyable and pleasant stay in the Meyrick - our car was parked by valet and our bags taken to the room. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range fruits and cereals on offer.
Excellent service! The staff are very helpful and are well trained, they are always ready to offer assistance. The room was nice and adequate size, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was the best I have had in quite a while! Will be staying again next year and would consider it for any visits to Galway in the meantime, although it is in Salthill and not city centre.
Nice hotel. We stayed as we were at a wedding. Dissappointed with the food at the dinner. The beef was tough and over cooked and the veg were soft and mushy inedible. Dessert was good.
really nice hotel , have stayed there before, staff very friendly, excellent food, ate in the restaurant on Saturday night, dinner very good and very reasonable price. Breakfast one of the best I have ever had in a hotel, nice variety of fruit cereals, breads, etc. and main breakfast cooked to order which is very good, fresh and non greasy unlike most hotel breakfasts which are buffet style.will definately be back again.
just back from a two day stay at The Westwood Hotel Galway We attended a wedding there The hotel could not be faulted in any way Staff were very helpful food was excellent at the wedding and we eat in the restaurant and it was beautiful freshly prepared food.Rooms spotless I consider it very good value for money will make a return visit and recommend it to others.
