This is an excellent hotel. It is located perfectly - close enough to easily walk to and from the main train station (from where you can get the S11 train from the airport for just 2 euros 30). And also about a 10 minute walk from the main downtown centre of Dusseldorf (the KO). The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the room I had (on the 4th floor at the back of the hotel) was very large and spacious. It was also very quiet at night, and everything about this hotel was just perfect. There are plenty of shops and cafes around it too. Breakfast was included and was very nice - with a wide selection of hams, cheeses, fruits and lovely fresh rolls. And the most delicious smoked salmon as well as lots of other interesting things to try. The reception area is very stylish, and after checking out I was able to leave my bag at the hotel when I went out for the day. The room had a good sized lcd TV, and there was also a free (German language) newspaper delivered in the morning. The hotel staff were so helpful, suggesting places to visit and the hotel gives you a free travelcard ticket which allows travel on the trams and also on the train back to the airport. I would definetly rate this hotel 10 out of 10 for its staff. Dusseldorf is a great city to visit, and this hotel makes a perfect base. I would definetly recommend it to anyone going to Dusseldorf.

This is my second stay at at the mitte in 8 months, and I honestly can't see me staying at anyother hotel in Dusseldorf. Service from the staff is first rate, friendly and helpfull. The room is Clean comfortable and the best Budget room I've ever stayed in, £55 a night inc Breakfast can't really be described as anything but Budget. They also have a really good key operated air conditioning system which some people don't seem to to have realised, and although it wasn't super hot it was very welcome. Breakfast which is included in the Roomex price is very tasy and served until 11am. They also give you a free card for travel on local trains , trams and Buses for the lenght of your stay, we didn't use this last time we stayed, but used it a lot this time, it was really easy to get around and trams go from outside the Hotel, and theres an underground 300 metres away in Ostrasse. Its still an easy 10 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof (main Station)but be warned there are a few sex industry related stores in the area, but they are descreet and you don;t really see anything inside or anybody seedy outside. but those are inbetween the Station and the Hotel, if you got the tube to the Hotel you'd miss those out and the next corner along is the start of the 'nicer' shops, a huge Galeria Kaufhof dept store on the next corner and the next corner along is the start of the Konigs Allee the most expensive shopping street in Dusseldorf, less than 5 minutes away. There are some aspects which could be improved, the pillows are the thinnest ever, I knew this from our previous visit so we asked for two more when we checked in, theres only CNN and MTV in English on the TV (but I don't go for the telly!) there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room as standard (there is a mini bar fridge though) but we take a small travel kettle as we know this. Bathroom is excellent shower and Bath both high standard. If The TV and tea making are big problems you can also upgrade your room for E15 (about £12) a day for that you get the 5 premium english tv channels movies etc (usually E12 a day) tea a coffee making facilities, bed room slippers luxury toiletries (as standard there are perfectly good 'large size' toiletries in each room) theres also some other things icluded in that odffer but the rest slip my mind at the moment. One last thing, the free transport card covers your train journey back to the airport but make sure you get the right one (train), we arrived and departed on Lufthansa from terminal C and there are 2 train stations at the Airport, Terminal c has its own Staion the S7 local train route and trains take 12 mins and cost E2.10, however the other station is served by the Express trains and the S1 route and though trains take 6 - 12 mins to the Main station or have other city connections, you have to take the Monorail "skytrain" from Terminal C to get this and this could take up 10 mins to get to. Overall still an excellent budget hotel that pushes the standard to the next level, will use again.

This could be described as a budget hotel, it cost about £55 a night (For a double), and this was over the busy xmas market weekends. It could also be described as a business hotel. I'll describe it as an excellent value for money hotel. It's not the place you take someone to impress them, but it was clean comfy, the staff helpfull, the inclusive breakfast excellent, and the location convenient. The rooms aren't huge but they're not small, there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but if you know this in advance then take a travel kettle like we did, or pay the businessmans upgrade, which costs E15 for tea and coffee facilities, a small bottle of wine and a few other extras which I can't remember. It had a very nice bath in the room, the bed was very comfy, pillows were thin, but I asked for extra and it was no problem, staff were also friendly. I stayed in the marriott in the media harbour in the summer and it was £90 a night with no breakfast (£127 with breakfast for double), whilst it was a cut above the mittel, it wasn't worth anywhere near double if you include the breakfast. Also and this isn't mentioned on Roomex, every person also recieves a card which gives you free public transport within Dusseldorf and its outskirts, this includes the S7 train back to Dusseldorf Airport, from the HBF (main staion) which is about 7 minutes walk from The Mittel. Other nice things included, letting us put our bags in our room at 11am ( check in 2pm officially0, we were told the room hadn't been cleaned yet but we could put our bags in if we wanted nice touch. also leaving bags at hotel at the end of the stay was fine too. Bar in lobby is also very reasonably priced. Overall, great value for money, and checkout was easy, gave them the Roomex email at check in, no imprint of CC needed and checkout was a formality. Very pleased, if you want a reasonably priced clean and comfortable room, The mittel hits the spot.
