Hotel Description
The rooms are kept in great condition, as is the rest of the hotel. Colour TV, direct telephone dialling, air-conditioning and hair dryers are standard in every room. Classical decor is used throughout the units. The buffet style restaurant is located on the ground floor and has a separate entrance. Here guests can enjoy a variety of local and international cuisine. The rustic styled bar offers a cozy atmosphere, where guests can relax and enjoy a drink. It is situated indoors and located on the front side of the hotel. The hotel is housed in a converted palace built by the knights of the Order of St John and therefore typical of architecture in the surrounding areas of Valletta. Lobby is small, classical and cozy. In contrast to the limestone walls which are kept in their original state, the red sofas and dark wood furnishings give a very noble Maltese feel to the hotel's entrance. Excellent location, right in the heart of the UNESCO world heritage capital city. Friendly staff make sure that each guest has an unforgettable stay. RECOMMENDED (DB 04/09)
Area Information
The hotel is situated in the heart of Valletta, the capital city of Malta and is only a five minute walk away from the island's central bus terminus. Cafes, shops, restaurants, St John's cathedral, the grand harbour and museums are a very short walk away from the property.
Customer Reviews for Osborne Hotel Valletta
Our Customer stayed here in July 2011
The Hotel is located in a lovely historic building, unfortunately the internal layout has been changed so that the rooms have as little charme as an Etap hotel by the motorway. In our room the big, arched window was cut in half by the floor (so the window started at floor level and went up to under a meter). Apart from that the rooms are clean and not luxurious but sufficient.
The biggest let down was the staff: on several occasions we found their tone rude (e.g. when being asked for the room number at breakfast).
When we arrived the key card for our door did not work. Instead of coming to see for themslves with an alternative key they person at the reception made us go back and forth between our 3rd floor room and reception several times before he could be bothered to come and see for himself. He then opened the door for us but the problem was not fixed and he claimed that the manager was the only one who knew how to do it so we would have to wait for him to return. When he finally showed up after several hours he claimed that all the staff knew how to change the batteries on the locks but were just to lazy to do it themselves. We would have preferred it if the staff had worked out their internal issues amongst themselves. Overall, this incident did not leave us feeling welcomed and well looked after.
To sum up: Not the worst hotel ever but not a pleasant experience you gladly pay for either.
