This is my second visit to this hotel and it certainly lives up to it's reputation as a top rated hotel in Budapest. Located on a quiet square just off the centre of town, the hotel has easy access to Budapest's excellent public transport network, being about a minute's walk from the nearest Tram stop and about 5 minutes from the nearest Metro station. The hotel itself was a 19th century palace and the original courtyard has been very cleverly converted into the lobby area, with the breakfast room on the floor below. Speaking of breakfast, you are really spoilt for choice, with a selection of juices (plus the option to squeeze your own), fruits, yoghurts, cheeses, cold meats, bread (sweet and savoury) and hot options of eggs, bacon, sasuages and mixed vegetables. Breakfast room can get pretty busy during peak times though, but the staff are always on hand, quietly and unobtrusively clearing tables and replenishing stock, so the whole process is quite efficient. After breakfast and until 5pm, guests have access to free tea/coffee and mineral water in the lobby lounge, an unusual and nice touch. Staff are very friendly and helpful and are eager to make your stay as comfortable and happy as possible. Rooms are clean and modern and the entire hotel is maintained to a high standard. There are a couple of restaurants and bars nearby and the area is very safe for walking around, day or night. I will have no hesitation in booking another stay at the Palazzo Zichy and look forward to visiting Budapest again.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was very clean, air-conditioned and spacious. In the mornings we could hear our neighbours alarm and having shower. The cleaning lady through my facial soap away but the hotel offered immediately buy me new one. Staff were friendly and helpful. We appreciated free drinking water (lobby bar before 5pm) in the July heat.

This is a fantastic hotel, one of the best I've ever stayed in. My wife agrees that it is the best hotel she's stayed in in Europe. Location is wonderful, situated beside a small square, public transport is less than 3 minutes walk away but for exploring the city, most attractions are within walking distance. The hotel itself is very modern inside a building that's some a couple of hundred years old. Clean and shiny surfaces and classic designs make the interior a very pleasant place to hang around. The bar has free tea / coffee and bottled water every day until 5pm. Breakfast is definetly superior to anything I've had in continental Europe with fresh fruit and cereals, fruit juices, cold meats and cheeses and a hot plate serving bacon egg and sasuage. A selection of breads and sweet bites completes the experience. The staff are ultra friendly and gave us much assistance in choosing restaurants and advice on places to visit. In summary, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. It has something for everyone. It takes 4* to a new level.
