I booked this hotel because it was both affordable and in a SUPERB location - right next to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, less than 10 minutes walk to Times Square. We booked a twin room and imagine our faces when we opened the curtains and got a view of the Empire State Building! It can be a lottery on what view you get but we certainly weren't disappointed - I would wake up to a view of sunrise behind the ESB.
The room itself was bright, had a big TV and the bathroom was fine. Fresh towels were delivered each day and beds were made. If we slept in, the maids would come back later.
There are no tea/coffee facilities but that's no bother - simply go down the steps at Madison Square Garden into Penn Station and you'll discover a vibrant underground station with loads of coffee shops, bagel / donut joints and grocery stores.
Best night had to be going up the ESB at night, getting AMAZING views, going to one the Irish bars, and getting cinnamon bagels with cream cheese from Penn Station and a vanilla latte from Starbucks and going back to the hotel!
The only downside is that the internet was a little pricey, but stroll down to Korea Way (32nd Street) and there's cheap internet there.
Totally worth it, I'll definitely stay here again.
