We stayed here in August 2010. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Hotel relaxing but one wondered how it worked! Nobody seemed to be in charge. Rare to see a member of staff. Dining room very poorly organised in morning. Massive queues at times for breakfast when dining room was half empty. Total lack of organisation. No staff presence in pool/garden area. Problem with toilets near pool area. Had to go to reception on 3 separate occasions one day to report toilet blockage, awful smell and broken toilet seat in ladies toilets. Response rate appalling. Nobody seemed to be monitoring/checking communal toilet areas. Enjoyed stay overall. Very relaxing. However kept wondering how things worked. Nobody seeme to be in charge/running things/responsible. Felt hotel worked in spite of management. Maybe accident waiting to happen? Felt hotel grossly understaffed and not up to 4 star standard of other Pestana hotels.
