The view over the medieval town and beaches of Viana de Castelo was magnificent, the hotel was spacious, elegant and very peaceful. The pool was located well away from the hotel and had a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. However a few extras would have changed my rating from very good to superb. Food and drink were a lot more expensive than local restaurants, toiletries in the bathroom were basic and there were a shortage of umbrellas at the pool area. The waiters didn't know how to mix cocktails which was a great pity as the terrace was the perfect place to sip cocktails as the sun was setting.
