Princesa Sofia Hotel Barcelona

We were extremely happy with the Princesa Sofia Gran Hotel. It is situated in a beautiful area of Barcelona, away from all the madness. The rooms are spacious and were spotlessly clean. Bed linen was changed each day. We used taxis all the time, and there was a taxi rank just outside the hotel which was most convenient. There are nice restaurants nearby. All in all we really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in in this hotel for 6 nights. On arrival check in took about 5 minutes. The staff were very helpful,polite,friendly and spoke perfect English. Our room was spotless. Every day our bed linen was changed and fresh towels were put in the bathroom The television has about 30 channels in different languages. You dont seem to get the same channels each day, but we got sky news ,bbc1 and some english films. There were also german spanish and some other language channels. The hotel foyer is very large with seating areas with a checkin desk and another information desk where you can enquire about tours or taxis etc. The staff at the information desk are very helpful. Breakfast was included in our booking and it was all you would expect from a 5 star hotel-several different juices, water, cereals, yoghurts, hotfood-rashers, sausages, eggs fried or scrambled, beans and mushrooms, selection of breads and toast, muffins, apple slices and other cakes together with tea and coffee. The swimming pool is part of the wellness centre. So you have to pay 12 euros per person for use of the wellness centre for the day even if you just want to go for a swim. But the wellness centre is very nice. They will give you towels to lie out on the sunbeds free of charge if you are not swimming. The hotel is about 5 minutes slow walking from the metro, bus or tram. The metros come every 2 minutes and you can get to any part of Barcelona quite easily in 10to 20minutes. Nou Camp is a ten minute walk around the corner from the hotel. There is asmall shop across from the hotel that sells water sweets biscuits cigarettes and stationery but it closes around 6 oclock. Ther are a few small restaurants 5 minutes walk from the hotel but they close early usually by 7 o clock .The hotel is located in a very safe area but for nighttime entertainment you would have to go into the city. There is a seven storey Cortes Ingles shopping complex across from the metro. It has everything in it. Cortes Ingles is like Brown Thomas. A 1 euro, 20 bus ride of 20 minutes will bring you to Commercial shopping centre which has 200 shops ranging from Penneys(primark)to Designer ware and a top floor of restaurants. I would stay in this hotel again for the comfort service, helpful staff and its convenience to the metro.
