This hotel has a great staff who speak excellent English, have lots of advice about Madrid and a friendly attitude. The rooms are large by European standards, the beds firm but not hard and excellent for my back. Large bathroom with tub and shower. Digital TV but no English channels.Good AC with control. It's a great value and after you find your away around Madrid you will see that it has a great location. We walked to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor but at first took the nearby Metro. With the advise of the staff we took the #2 Circular bus from the front door to the Prado, The Retiro Park, the Reina Sofia Modern Art Museum and the Atocha High Speed train station.
To get there we picked up the Metro at the Airport made one change at the Nueva Ministereos stop and changed lines to the Plaza de Espana stop. From there it is a few blocks. There are always lots of streets emanating from a square so if you are confused take a cab. The second stay we were given a 5th floor room with a view of the Palace at no extra charge. The 5th floor rooms are nicer than the third floor room we had on our first stay.
