We found the Macdonald Randolph Hotel to be very centrally located and thus ideal for our needs. My husband and I were in the older part of the hotel while my son and his wife who had booked separately were in the new Executive wing. I could not fault the bedrooms in terms of comfort and cleanliness even though ours was tiny with a small double bed - I had expected a bigger bed in a 5-star hotel. My son and his wife had a bigger room. The staff were friendly and courteous but we felt that they were a little bit overwhelmed at breakfast on both mornings of our stay. I hasten to add that the hotel was full and people had to wait for tables on one morning. Nevertheless the staff seemed to be a little confused and on one morning we were almost finished our hot dish before our coffee arrived. My son and my daughter-in-law had breakfast later than us on the second morning and had quite a wait, even when seated, before their hot breakfast order was taken. However, I would definitely stay there again but my expectations would not be as high. So overall a very positive experience but 4-star rather than 5-star service.

We stayed at the Randolph in October for one night. The room was 'intimate' to shoebox depending on your perspective with a relatively big bathroom. If you like your bedrooms big avoid this hotel unless you are willing to pay the bucks required. That said, the room was extremely clean with high quality sheets and fluffy pillows etc. We had a great time in Oxford and loved the Randolph which cost us around 250 Euro for the night including a fabulous buffet breakfast. If you are a Morse fan then this is the hotel for you!
