In general everything was satisfactory, the only thing was that the room seemed to be a little bit stuffy because it was not possible to open the windows and the air conditioning was somewhat tempremental.
It is a minor point, but this hotel does have a very annoying practive - which is to put a £1 donation to a charity on your bill without first asking you about it. Yes, you can cancel it (if you are bothered about £1) but the point is that they are applying a charge without prior approval and the person does not know that the expense has been incurred. What this means is that if you want to express check out on the basis that you know what your spending has been and your bill has been prepaid, you cannot do this because you have to deal with the £1 charge. As I say, it is not about the £1. It is about the unlawful applying of a charge that has not been properly incurred and then expecting the customer to opt out of it. If people want to donate to charities they can do so of their own accord. If people want to donate to charities selected by Renaissance Hotel they can do so, but they expect to be asked to do that, not told that they have done it.

I was at the hotel for a weekend conference. The airconditioning in the conference room was a bit erratic but the ambiance was otherwise good. The lobby, where I sat during the conference breaks, was comfortable and well maintained.
I had a Queen sized bed room with a side view of the runway. It was a bit cold but Housekeeping brought me up a portable heater to supplement the hot air blower system. The room itself was very clean and the bed comfortable.
Breakfast was buffet sytle. The standard fare. What was a big plus was they had lean bacon and decent English sausages and Scottish porridge. There was also a small Oriental section serving miso soup and rice etc - there seemed to be a large number of Japanese aircrew staying in the hotel.
The only thing where the hotel fell down very badly is that they are not geared up to serve their bar food menu. The bar staff were very slow (had to wait 30 minutes for a sandwich to come from the kitchen) and indifferent to providing service.
All in all a good hotel to stay at, but keep well clear of the bar if you do not want to suffer from high blood pressure due to amazingly poor service.
