Rodeway Inn Hotel Philadelphia

This hotel is very quaint and in a GREAT location. It is kept clean and the staff was very friendly. However, during our stay there were some issues. We were given a room on the third floor, and the elevator was broken. This would not have been a huge inconvenience, but the air conditioning (just on our floor) was also broken. We were in Philadelphia over Memorial Day weekend and the temperature stayed somewhere between 80 and 85 degrees the entire time. We would walk around the city during the day and then come home and be entirely unable to cool off. When we were told that the air conditioning was broken, instead of offering us a different room, we were given a 10" fan to cool the room, which did little to nothing. The bathroom shower stall was damaged and showing a lot of mildew, and there was a hole in the wall behind the toilet where they had to cut into the drywall to make it fit. Overall, our room itself was very disappointing, but the location and people at the hotel were great. I suppose if you were willing to pay a little more than we did (roughly $120 a night) you may be able to get a nicer room that has air conditioning that works. Some of the doors were left open while housekeeping was doing their rounds, so we were able to see that there were, in fact, much nicer rooms than the one that was reserved for us. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, but only if you are able to pay for a higher end room, or are willing to sacrifice a little luxury to have a good location.
