Ryad Mogador Hotel Essaouira
Hotel Description
The rooms are like a small buildings- trying to imitated the traditional Riads - all around the fantastic pool. The 140 rooms and 16 suites all have heating, en-suite bathrooms, satellite television, telephone and personal safes (for an extra cost). The rooms are medium-sized and comfortable. Although it is not profusely decorated, they are done in taste and give a good impression. The bathrooms, again, are good in size. With two restaurants, the hotel covers the traditional Moroccan food , such as tagines and cous-cous- but also offers international dishes. The hotel also offers fairly good room service. The exterior looks like a traditional low-rise building, although it is new construction. The reception is large, decorated in Moorish style that attemps to invoke the feeling of a traditional Moroccan palace. Although its location is not the best in Essaouira, this should not be an obstacle to booking this hotel, as guests will enjoy its service, price and quality. Again, it is a short drive by car or a cheap petite taxi ride to the centre of La Medina. This hotel is recommended. (11/08 SB)

Customer Reviews for Ryad Mogador Hotel Essaouira
Our Customer stayed here in May 2008
The reception staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The shower did not reach the shower hook and it took me 5 trips to reception to finally get a new connecting tube that was long enough and there were no apologies offered. There is no tourist information or maps on display in the hotel. No information on facilities offered by the hotel in the rooms or at reception. No hairdryer in the room and none available at all at reception and I was told to go the hairdresser! The swimming pool towels are only available on request by the pool attendant - when he is available. It took 20 minutes to get one and when I complained to reception they told me to use the ones left by other guests! I was then was told clean towles were put out each morning and saw them being straightened when a guest left the pool area and being given to the next person. Interesting hygiene! The dining room floor was filthy, the tableclothes reused day after day and the breakfast extrememly boring with watered sweetened orange juice - in a country where oranges are sold on every street corner. The tea was undrinkable and constantly running out as both the coffee and tea were supplied to the buffet in 4 man flasks and often there were 50/60 people breakfasting at the same time. The hot buffet consisted of only scrambled eggs. The croissants were sometimes 2 days old and there were sugar wrappers, sugar, butter papers and rubbish lying behind the doors.
Not an experience to be repeated!
The rooms were fine and the cleaning staff extremely friendly but all the linen and towels were pale grey with poor washing.
You should inform prospective guests that there is no alcohol allowed on the premisis and that there is only French television.
