The Rydges Hotel is very well located right beside the lake. The view outside the bedroom window is magnificant and worth the visit alone. The hotel is good but it was a pity that our kettle in the room did not work and was not attended to despite advising the reception desk. This took from an otherwise good experience of Queenstown.
The town is a busy tourist area and for those interested in adventure sports it is a must. The scenery is magnificant and although the town centre is busy with traffic it is easy to get around. Boat trips on the lake are a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours and there are a number of good restaurants to cater for all tastes. It is easy to see why Queenstown is the popular destination for tourists to the South Island. It is easy going and friendly and the prices in the shops are the same or even lower than Christchurch. I would not wish to put anyone off from the Rydges Hotel from our small complaint as it is a fine place as so well located.
