Hotel Description
Rooms are standard, with basic, 'arte povera' furniture and facilities and neutral decor. Some rooms are quite small because they were the original monks' rooms! Bathrooms are in good condition, all with shower. Restaurant is not available. The breakfast room is on the ground floor and serves continental breakfast. The hotel has been transformed from an ancient 12th century monastery and preserves, after excellent restoration works, most of its original features.
The main building is square shaped and has an internal garden. Corridors go alongside the garden and the building and give access to the rooms. There is also an annex, connected to the main building, where some rooms of the same standards are. The building is on 2 floors only. The lobby is very small and stays at the right side from the entrance. On the left side there is a small sitting area with modern white sofas and the lift to the upper floor. If you walk straight from the entrance you will enter into the patio/garden area. This is a hotel that in some ways is not a hotel! The building is beautiful and the restorations works have kept the atmosphere of a monastery untouched. It is very quiet and pleasant in our opinion but rooms and service are basic. The hotel can organise a shuttle bus from/to Pisa airport for a minimal charge. 0409 SR
Area Information
The hotel is located in a quiet street near the commercial area of Pisa, a few hundred metres from the trade fair centre. The city centre is only 1 km away and the major attractions, such as the leaning tower, are a bit further away. Easy access to motorway and airport.
Customer Reviews for Santa Croce Hotel Pisa
Our Customer stayed here in July 2011
Charming place with a lot of character and idyllic courtyard. Rooms quite spartanic but very clean. The only downside: Shower door did not close completely.
Staff was lovely and the hotel's bike hire is highly recommended for exploring Pisa.

Our Customer stayed here in September 2010
The Santa Croce is a lovely, restful hotel built originally as a convent and restored in 2000 as a hotel. The rooms are deliberately plain but comfortable, with the original terracotta floor tiles and wooden shuttered windows. There is air-conditioning, our room had a merble-floored en-suite and a tv but the cloistered courtyard looks pretty much as it must have done centuries ago. The staff are very friendly and the Reception area is welcoming. There is secure, free parking and it's far easier to walk or catch a bus into the city centre than bother to move the car once you're there. Breakfast was ample and the evening menu very reasonably-priced. I would definitely recommend the Santa Croce and would stay there again. Really good value.
On the plane home I met someone else who had stayed there recently and they were delighted with it, too.
