The design and style of the rooms is typically scandinavian with much use of earthy colours and wooden furnishings. Many enjoy impressive panoramic views. Bathrooms are also in very good condition. Found on the ground floor, the restaurant is quite informal, modern and comfortable, and serving international cuisine. It is a high-rise blue and clear modern glass structure. The reception area is modern in design and decor, and is of medium size. A large good standard hotel situated right in the city.

Scandic Opalen is located in the eastern part of Gothenburg city centre. It is within walking distance of the convention centre, the Congress Hall, the Scandinavium concert hall and the Liseberg amusement park.
