Our Customer stayed here in October 2010
We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years as it an excellent base for visiting friends in North West and Central London. unfortunately, it has become a little less convenient since the back route through to Edgware has been blocked and the only route away from the hotel is via the M1 (north or south).
Although the hotel is sandwiched between the M1 and the railway line, noise isn't an issue due to the double (or triple?) glazing and heavy black out curtains.
All the rooms we have stayed in in the hotel have been the same. They are large rooms with a wide desk with chair, arm chair, TV, hairdryer and plenty of mirrors. The single beds are 3ft wide, or zip together to make a 6ft bed. Either way, they are extremely comfortable.
What lets the room down is the appalling lighting; there's plenty of it, but it's so dim it's almost impossible to make-up properly. This seems to be an issue in all hotels. There is a also very little storage space. Fine for the one night business traveller, but not so good for the long weekend, especially if you have functions to attend. Also, our curtains were very difficult to close and although we mentioned this to the receptionist nothing was done about it.
The Bathroom is a good size with a sink set in a wide counter and a Bath with a very effective shower over. I particularly like the steam free mirror. The Bathroom in the room we had this time was looking a little tired, but, like the bedroom, was immaculately clean.
Breakfast was good. There was plenty of it and the cooked breakfast was hot without being dried out. In addition to the full English, there are cereals, toast, rolls, croissants, jams, yoghurts and fruit salad.
As always, the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient (apart from the curtain issue!)
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and as long as Roomex continues to offer it's excellent discounted price we will be staying there again.
