In spite of its somewhat “un-Venetian” name, the superior 3-star American-Dinesen Hotel has, for years, managed to feature very highly in Venice's hotel popularity stakes. Housed in a 17th century palace on the picturesque San Vio Canal, the hotel enjoys a peaceful location away from the bustle of central Venice, yet is so central that many of Venice's major attractions can be reached on foot; Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, Guggenheim Collection and the Accademia Gallery to name but a few. Guests arriving at the American-Dinesen for the first time are greeted in a dignified lobby adorned with Oriental rugs, marble floors, polished woods and leaded-glass windows, and for those arriving by water taxi at the hotel's private landing stage on the San Vio Canal, the first impression becomes all the more memorable. Spacious guestrooms are decorated in a typically Venetian style and are furnished to a high standard with comforts including free internet wifi, LCD television screen with international channels and PayTv movies, writing desk, minibar, safe, air-conditioning and hairdryer. Additionally, the hotel provides guests with a rich buffet breakfast, bar services, a small summer terrace on the first floor and, of course, impeccable service from its staff!
