The hotel is located in the centre of town, a few minutes from the rail and bus terminal along a main road. The hotel can be found in the heart of the famous Grassmarket, with its charming shops, restaurants and quaint pubs. This is an excellent location, as Edinburgh Castle is opposite, providing great views from the hotel bedrooms.
The rooms are medium in size and are kept in very good condition, as are the bathrooms. Rooms are all similar: both bright and spacious. A number of rooms are tailored for guests with disabilities. Rooms have excellent facilities for business travellers.
The hotel has a rooftop restaurant with stunning views across Edinburgh. It is long and narrow, but in an excellent location.
The hotel is a converted university; the modern building enjoys attractive surroundings.
The lobby is medium in size and very bright, with seating available.
Additional facilities for guests' enjoyment include the Yu Spa leisure facility with ozone pool, tropicarium, plunge shower and gym with state-of-the-art technogym equipment. This facility is open daily to residents free of charge.
This is an excellent central hotel, but has limited car parking space available. A parking fee is to be paid at reception. Overall, this is an excellent property with a great central location.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights bed and breakfast. It was absolutely gorgeous
room with the most amazing view of Edinburgh castle. We stayed in room 3007 which over looked the
Castle and the grass market area. Location was great with only a ten minute walk to
Princess Street. The grassmarket area was great lots of nice bars and restaurants and
quirky shops. Breakfast was great with a good variety to choose from and the restaraunt were you ate
breakfast was located on the fifth floor which had an amazing view of the castle. All staff were pleasant and
friendly. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to a friend. It was my friends
birthday and I had emailed roomex and asked if we could be given since room with a view of the
Castle and we got a gorgeous room with a birthday card for my friend and two complimentary
Drinks at the bar which was a lovely touch.

Stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend for a three night weekend break. The hotel is in an excellent location- the castle and Princes Street are both only 10 mins walk away 9although you have to climb ALOT of steps to get to the castle!!) Loads of nice pubs and restaurants around too which is handy so no need for taxis everywhere.
The hotel itself is lovely too- very clean and the most comfortable bed ever! The only minor bad thing I have to say about the hotel was that we rang down on the morning of check out to ask if we could have a late check out which we were willing to pay extra for. Reception happily said yes. Unfortunately though this message obviously wasnt passed on to house keeping who knocked on our door three times in the space of an hour and even walked in at one stage before we had a chance to answer the door! Dont let this put you off though- overall a lovely hotel with excellent location!

The hotel was a stones throw from bustling restaurants and bars in old town Grassmarket area,so steeped in history and has loads of quirky cute shops. It was minutes from Edinburgh Castle and hotel had view of castle, convient to all attractions and next to bus stop. The hotel its self was satisfactory, clean and decent sized room.Staff were pleasant and approachable.During our stay the hotel held wedding reception with most of party staying in hotel but this did not disrupt our nights sleep thankfully. My only critism is the bar which is lovely could have benifited with more staff as they provide table service it slowed down service, when only one member of staff on.Saying that they accomodated late food orders for guest after late check in or long day trips and always remained very friendly when visibly under pressure.

Hotel staff were very helpful. We arrived on early flight and were put in a queue for an early room. We were given a room at 1.30 instead of the normal 2.30 check in. The situation of this hotel for tourists is perfect and I would recommend it to anyone I know who would be intending to visit Edinburgh.
