While the reception area and bar are well kept the bedrooms seem to have been left behind somewhat. I cant complain about the cleanliness or quality of bed linen but the room itself was old fashioned and the tiny portable TV was not worth having in the room. Staff were friendly.

Really very good at the Downhill House Hotel. Service was pleasant, setting was gorgeous, food was very good indeed. Only reason why it didn't score full marks is because the windows in the bedroom were dirty, and the TV was tiny!
But all said and done, I would stay there again. Well worth the Roomex prices!

Just stopped over for one night en route further 'into ...
Arrived late - no issues checking in.
Despite forgetting to include baby on original booking and only realizing and communicating post original booking there was a cot in our room - saved us having to go looking for it :-)
Pints in the bar were interrupted by call from a friends wife saying people in room next door to theirs were being very loud and frightening their children. A word with the night porter and this was taken care of with no re-occurrence through the night.
Room was comfortable and breakfast the next morning was more than adequate. Staff were all very friendly and professional.
