Boasting one of the most prestigious locations of Scotland's capital, this hotel lies in the heart of the city, taking prime position on the elegant George Street - ideal for that special weekend! Also within easy reach of the majority of Edinburgh's most popular attractions, including the famous Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street Gardens and Holyrood Palace. A little further afield is Edinburgh Zoo and Leith Port, which is now home to the Royal Yacht Britannia.
The rooms vary in size but are generally medium-sized, and are kept in excellent condition. The bathrooms are in very good decorative order throughout. The rooms have elegant décor, with full facilities. All 195 of the hotel's en-suite bedrooms, many with views of Edinburgh Castle or the Firth of Forth, have been furnished to a high four-star standard.
The hotel offers a la carte menu on its Tempus restaurant to the rear of a lobby, in what can only be described as a quite stunning and luxurious setting. There is also an exclusive a la carte restaurant serving Scottish specialities to the left of the entrance.
This grade II listed building, with its distinctive facade, was designed over two hundred years ago. Although it is undergoing much refurbishment, many of the original architectural details have been carefully retained.
The lobby is medium in size, with tiled floors and seating area. It has a luxurious feel due to the marble and crystal chandeliers.
The hotel is very grand and elegant and located right in the heart of the city centre in a prime central location. (KB 05/2008)

We booked this hotel only a few days before we went to Edinburgh and there wasn't much of a choice of hotels at that stage as there were a few things on in Edinburgh that week. I could find no fault whatsoever with any part of the stay and would definitely stay here again or recommend it to anyone else who may be traveling to Edinburgh. It was very central just behind Princes Street. The room was very clean and modern and the bathroom was also very clean. Breakfast was well organised and never any wait.
