Lovely hotel and fabulous spa. Nice room very quiet and lovely view of fields. Friendly staff although when I checked in the reception I'd did not take my roomex registration number and although I was there for IAD she assumed I was registered as that group and put me in as Traynor. I did not spot it until breakfast the next morning. A very efficient fellow sorted it for me so no harm done.

Beautiful grounds, helpful staff and great spa. Old drawing rooms are an interesting contrast to a modern hotel and a lovely spot for tea or a few drinks. Only gripe would be limited and sometimes disappointing bar food menu.

I spent a birthday there last Tuesday with four friends. ...
This was our second time staying at Farnham Estate and we were just as impressed with the level of cleanliness, the facilities, and the quality of the food in the Wine Goose Bar. Unfortunately we were equally unimpressed with the lack of enthusiasm/ friendliness of the staff (especially at breakfast), however there were a couple of exceptions. Despite this we had a very enjoyable stay. We really like the adult only pool area, and the outdoor infinity pool is super relaxing. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing getaway. One night is not enough!
My wife and I picked this hotel on the spur of the moment for a night away. As we entered the estate the long drive up to the hotel meandered up through the golf course. The car park is set away from the hotel but a courtesy bus runs every couple of minutes or you can choose to walk as it only takes 5 minutes. Check in was effortless. We were given information on all the hotels facilities e.g. dining, fitness centre, golf, walks etc. The room was perfect. Being on the ground floor we had our own patio door which meant we could sit outside our room in the evening sun. The en-suite had both a bath and shower cubicle. The health suite was perfect for relaxation. Complimentary robes and slippers are provided in the rooms. There was a choice of swimming pool ( indoor & outdoor ), steam, sauna, relaxation loungers, flavoured waters to re-hydrate. The estate features many walking routes through the woods and down by the lake. The longest is 7.5Km which we did just before breakfast. We dined the 'Wild Geese' bar which is down in the cellar. While the menu is not extensive there is still plenty of choice. The chicken wings are fabulous. The coctail menu is a little on the pricey side but considering the setting worth the indulgence. My wife and I were so impressed with everything the hotel has to offer that we plan to return soon and stay a lot longer. Finally a word on the staff. You don't notice them going about their duties but when you need something the always just appear. Friendly, smiling, courteous and extremely efficient.

Our room was lovely and toasty! Very clean and spacious! Lovely view, only downside was the mass of bird droppings on the windows. Food was scrumptious, both our evening meal and breakfast. Staff at breakfast we're not rude, but could have been a lot more pleasant! Overall a lovely trip, spa facilities lovely also! 1300 acre estate was magnificent! Had lovely peaceful walks with beautiful views of the countryside and lakes!

We really enjoyed our one night mid-week break away at the Radisson Blu Farnham estate in Cavan. Nicely situated just a couple of miles from Cavan town, the winding entrance road into hotel is approximately a mile through the hotels golf course to the main reception. We left the car at the drop off area outside the hotel door and brought our bags inside. I informed the receptionist (Sonia) that I would move the car shortly but she kindly informed me they have a valet service and to just leave the keys and someone will take care of the parking for us. The reception was bright and modern mixed with the old estate house which has been wonderfully preserved and is now a mixture of lounges and meeting rooms for guests. We proceeded to our room which we found only to have a view of the back roof. I called to reception and although the hotel was full, Sonia kindly arranged a new room with meadow views for us which was a twin but she sent the house-cleaner to arrange the two beds together and change the linen to king-size. We didn't have to wait around any length as Sonia came to the room in person to provide us with the new room keys. The restaurant was nicely located over-looking a courtyard area. The staff were very friendly and although I couldn't fault the food I found it was priced somewhat on the high side. Nevertheless, it was nice to stay within the hotel grounds for our dinner and have a drink and not have to search Cavan and drive. Later in the evening we enjoyed a few drinks in the Cellar bar - some good music being played and sung! The buffet breakfast had an excellent range of food from fresh fruits, meat platters/cheese to your traditional full Irish. All rooms contained a bathroom robe and slippers which are required when attending the Spa area and swimming pool(bring your own swimming cap to save you having to purchase locally). There was an unusual yet pleasant collection of self-treatment areas along with the traditional sauna/steam-rooms that was included in the nights stay. The swimming pool area contained a relaxing lounge area and a self-service water bar area containing several different flavored waters. The indoor pool led to an outside area which over-looked the cows grazing in the distant meadow which was quite refreshing and unique. Finally we took one of the trails through the wooded hotel grounds which led to a quite a pleasant and serene area over-looking a tranquil lake.
Overall, we had wished we were booked in for another night as with all hotel ventures, one night is not enough. This is a relaxing hotel for couples with a view to having a break to chill and unwind. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for parents with young families however as it's just not catering for that clientele. Worth a visit!
We arrived after a wedding in a different venue. It was our first visit to this hotel.
Our welcome from the car parking valet to all the hotel staff was brilliant.
We were made to feel very welcome.
The spa facilities in the hotel are excellent and our treatments were top class.
Our room was spacious and well equipped, and the hotel has free WiFi throughout.
We went on two of the beautiful walks in the grounds which are very scenic and well marked out and easily followed.
We eat in the hotel on two occasions and the meals were very enjoyable.
We are already looking forward to our return visit.
Be sure you DON'T get a room on the ground floor, all have large patio double door sized window with single door which sounds nice BUT there is a trail of walkers going straight by your room on the footpath outside the window so you have no privacy at all, the ground floor rooms are totally on display to all passing by. No net curtains or office blinds!! Which I was rather surprised by So you need to close the very heavy curtains leaving the room dark all the time. Very unimpressed as the weather was actually good the weekend I was there. Stopper in the bath didn't work. Room was really cold in the morning, conflicting information about the heating which was either not on or not working. Though they did eventually give up on it and arrange an electric heater.
Kim was great though she organised to change the room to a higher floor which was much better. Much more relaxing, brought the heater up to the new room too. You will have a nice stay if you ask for a non ground floor and test the heating the afternoon you check in.
Food in the dining area near reception was very very good!
Farnham Estate was our first family holiday away with our 13 month old. We were a bit concerned about staying in a confined room for 3 nights but to the contrary it was spacious and well designed. There was ample storage also for all the luggage we had so it worked tremendously well for us. All areas of the hotel were in close proximity which made it even more relaxing. The staff went beyond their duty to make sure we enjoyed our stay and nothing was an inconvenience regarding the babies needs. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
