Mates in Mind is a leading UK charity raising awareness and addressing the stigma of poor mental health. Promoting and leading the development of positive mental wellbeing within the workplace. Mates in Mind works across industries, focusing on construction, as well as related sectors including transport, logistics, manufacturing, and others. Mates in Mind aims to provide clear information to employers about the available support and guidance on mental health and wellbeing, and how they can address this within their organisations. At Roomex, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health and we are committed to supporting our customers and the wider workforce in prioritising mental wellbeing. By partnering with, and making a donation to, Mates in Mind, we hope to spread awareness and make a positive difference in the lives of workers across the UK. One in four construction workers contemplate suicide or 26% of construction industry professionals thought about taking their own lives in 2019, as job security, long hours, time away from families, lack of support from HR, and late payments all contributed to the ‘silent crisis’. Our chosen charity, Mates in Mind, have estimated that U.K. construction workers are 10 times more likely to die from suicide than from a job site accident. One in six workers, reported the Centre for Mental Health, face at least one mental health issue, resulting in 91 million lost work days annually. In July 2022, Roomex donated €500 towards Sigmar Recruitment’s Paris2Nice fundraising effort. Paris2Nice is a non-competitive charity cycle that takes place every year in September. The cycle is over 6 days, starting in the French capital and ending in Nice, covering over 700km distance. Roomex wanted to support Sigmar in their goal to fundraise for Saplings Special School, a special school for children aged 5 to 18 with autism and complex needs in Goresbridge, Co. Kilkenny. This allowed Temple Street Children’s hospital to invest in a mass spectrometer for the hospital, keeping the hospital as up to date with technological advances as possible. Roomex has proudly supported Focus Ireland’s Christmas Appeal for the last 2 years. In 2019, we donated over 80 gifts to Focus Ireland, and in 2020 while the gifts couldn’t be donated due to COVID-19, we all sent a digital One4All voucher instead so we could continue to provide support in such tough times. This all in an effort to support the actions of Focus Ireland who are constantly fighting the rising numbers of adults and children who are homeless on our streets. Dip in the Nip is not just any swim; it’s a daring plunge into the chilly waters of Ireland’s coastline, all in the name of charity.
Our brave participants, Liz and Bridget, embraced the challenge with courage, aiming to raise money for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie. Despite the cold Atlantic waves, they took the plunge, raising €4,105 and proving their commitment to making a positive impact both inside and outside the office.

I’m the Business Development Executive at Seven Partnerships. We’re geospatial experts based in Telford, Shropshire. So it’s been a lot easier for us. So obviously George who works in the office said there’s obviously all the invoices in one place, a lot smoother system than other suppliers previously. Probably the ease of the booking system.
