We were greeted by the friendly (bordering on nosy) reception staff as soon as we entered the small lobby. Check-in was fast, but I did not like that they insisted on putting a 50 pound per day hold on my credit card (to cover any expenses incurred during our stay they said).
We entered the very small (3 people limit) elevator and proceeded to our room.
We were dismayed at how tiny the room was - there was virtually no room to store our luggage, the distance between the twin beds was less than 1 foot, with about 1.5 feet on the other side - the room was clearly too small.
We began to unpack some of our bags and placed the items on the chair as there were no drawers available. I had some items to place in the room safe, but it did not work. A call to reception received prompt attention and someone arrived within 15 minutes to take care of the problem. While he was fixing the safe we discovered that the hair dryer had an intermittent fault. This was replaced a short time later.
It was very hot in London that night, and I spent a sleepless night, because the air conditioner would not work for more that 30 minutes at a time.
The next morning I complained to reception and was immediately offered a change of room - which I accepted. Two hours later we were given a much larger room where everything worked.
There was a buffet breakfast available costing 12.95, because of dietary restrictions we asked if we could have just tea and toast, the answer was that we could, but we would have to still pay full price - we declined.
Despite the many problems (corrected promptly it must be said) we enjoyed our stay.
Would we stay there again? The answer would have to be No.
Too many small problems that should not have existed in the first place. Their intransigence on the price of tea and toast. The hold on our credit card - all left a slightly bitter taste.
The one thing that I was really happy about, was that the showers were excellent - even in the tiny room.
Unfortunately, I can only give it 2 stars.

The furnishing and fittings (apart from the carpet) at the Continental Hotel are good quality and the staff are courteous and helpful.
The place does not live up to the claim of being a Heathrow Airport hotel, being situated miles from Heathrow in central Hounslow.
The hotel is difficult to identify from within a car. The Continental Hotel signage is at the top of the buiding and therefore obscured from sight through a car wndscreen. Also, it happens that Lampton Road seems to be the one street in Houslow which is not marked with a street sign.
Unfortunately the hotel lift was out of action during our brief stay.
