Well what can I say we had the most wonderful experience in the Hotel I had booked the night as a surprise 50th birthday treat for my husband and the hotel did everything to make it special from allowing me to drop in our bag the day before to delivering the bag to our room. The meal in the restaurant was magnifiant the staff in the restarant we so friendly and helpful and confident in the recommendations from the menu. I was even presented with a beautiful rose at the end of my meal as it was valentines. The rooms are luxurious and the beds really comfortable, and the next morning all I can say is the breakfast is to die for with a choice of absolutely everything you imagine. All in all it was a fantastic experience and a real treat my husband was delighted with his birthday surprise!!!!!!

Our pre-Christmas stay at The Shelbourne was the best way to start festive season! On arrival we were greeted by the friendliest and mannerly receptionist, who offered us spiced warm apple juice and a homemade ginger biscuit! Well this was the begining of the most enjoyable stay. Our room was excellent, old world style with a luxurios feel. The best nights sleep was had as the beds were so comfortable we didnt want to get up! Breakfast was the best we have had in any hotel! The ambience of the Saddle Room was lovely and all orders were cooked fresh. Every staff member could not do enough for us and were not showing any signs of festive fatigue!! We could not experience the bar in the evening as there were functions on and it was extremely busy, to be expected at this time of year. The pool area was an added bonus! Beautiful facilities and it was like having our own pool! And how wonderful just to go down in our complimentry robe and slippers over over swimming costumes! I would recommend the Shelbourne to anyone around the festive season as it bring back all the old warm feeling you should have at Christmas!! Also I must add the decorations in Reception were amazing!!

The Shelbourne is consistency in a world gone mad. Everything they do is well done. However I do feel there is a hint of snobbery about the place and unfortunately if our experience is anything to go by, it appears that Roomex bookings are treated less favourably than others. We have stayed in the Shelbourne a number of times but on this occasion, despite booking our room over 2 months in advance and despite checking in early, we were given what must be the smallest room in the hotel. We were also promised a phone call once our room was ready, which we never received. We were told the room we were given was the only available room that night but I don't for a second believe all other rooms were allocated before we checked in. So whilst we still enjoyed our stay, this did leave us with a view that in the Shelbourne, more than any other hotel, what you pay for your room determines where you come in the scale, even if it is a discounted rate.
