An elegant oak-lined avenue leads to Tinakilly House, a Victorian mansion steeped in history, built in 1884 for Captain Robert Halpin Commander of the "The Great Eastern" and mariner supreme who laid the telegraphic cable joining Europe to America. There are lovely views into the garden from the lounges with open log fires and some of the comfortable bedrooms and suites enjoying the views over the Irish Sea and bird sanctuary at Broadlough Costal Lagoon. Furniture reflects the Victorian period yet providing all modern comforts. Fine dining is available in the Brunel Restaurant, and snacks and afternoon tea are served in the drawing room.

I stayed here with my partner, initially for a three night break, enjoyed the hotel so much we booked an extra night. All staff are extremely friendly, we met the new owners and are delighted to see Gerry and his wife taking such a hands on interest in the hotel. The foyer is beautiful, open fireplace with sweeping wooden staircase and balcony. We stayed in a suite overlooking the sea, gorgeous room, antique furnishings lovely. We ate in the hotel on one of the evenings and although the food was excellent the portions were very small, expensive when you have to pay for portions of vegetables as these are not included in the meal price - that was disappointing. Our bed was a bit on the hard side so woke up in the morning with a bit of a sore back. But we are looking forward to all the many changes that the team at Tinakilly promise for the future, we will be back.

Beautiful country house with lovely antique furniture. Lacks that "soulless" feel that most hotels have. The food in the restaurant was delicious but a bit over priced. All the staff were very friendly. Overall it was a fantastic experience.
